UNA Exchange is recruiting for a Programme Officer to deliver across our portfolio of short-term exchanges

UNA Exchange is a Cardiff-based international volunteering charity with ambitious plans for growth as we enter our 45th operational year. We are recruiting for a dynamic individual to join the team to deliver across our portfolio of short-term exchanges, including overseas group volunteering, individual volunteering abroad and domestic work camps. The post of Programme Officer (Exchanges) is offered initially on a five-month contract through until 31 October 2018 with potential for extension.

Our core business comprises international exchanges to and from Wales, empowering individuals to take part in a variety of voluntary service projects that develop communities, protect the historic and natural environments and promote inter-cultural understanding. Aimed predominately at young people aged 18–30, we provide opportunities ranging from two-week residentials through to 12-month overseas placements. We also provide a programme of supported volunteering for young people furthest from the labour market and most at risk of social exclusion.

UNA Exchange receives core funding from Welsh Government through the National Voluntary Youth Organisations grant together with significant funding from the European Commission for delivery of Erasmus+ youth exchanges. Working in partnership with not-for-profit organisations worldwide, UNA Exchange is a member of the Alliance of European Voluntary Service Organisations and the UNESCO-affiliated Coordinating Committee for International Voluntary Service. UNA Exchange is also a member of Bond, VINE UK, WCVA and CWVYS, which facilitates pan-Wales and UK-wide networking.

The successful candidate will be passionate about the beneficial outcomes of international volunteering to individual participants and the communities with which they volunteer. You may be a graduate or early-career professional looking for your next development opportunity, happy to take on a short-term but highly rewarding role. We’re keen to hear from individuals from all backgrounds.

To apply, please supply a CV and covering letter detailing how your skills and experience meet the requirements of the role and when you would be available to take up the post. The closing date for all applications is 10 am Friday 1st June 2018; successful applicants will be invited to attend an interview on Thursday 7th June 2018 and will be required to make a short presentation.
