Join us: we’re recruiting!

At UNA Exchange we are recruiting two highly-driven individuals to join our team. The roles comprise a Programme Officer and an Interim Programmes Manager; the latter, to cover a period of maternity leave. Both posts are initially offered on a fixed-term, eight-month contract with potential for extension subject to funding. Both are part-time roles at 0.8 FTE (28 hours / 4 days per week) and will be based at our office at the Temple of Peace, Cardiff, with some travel required.

UNA Exchange Raising Peace project 2018

Driven by a mission of peace and international solidarity, since 1973, UNA Exchange has facilitated global exchanges to and from Wales, empowering individuals to take part in voluntary service projects that develop communities, protect the historic and natural environments and promote inter-cultural understanding. Aimed predominately at young people aged 18–30, the charity provides opportunities ranging from two-week residentials through to fully-funded 12-month overseas placements.

The new Programme Officer will be tasked with delivering across our portfolio of short-term exchanges, including overseas group volunteering and Wales-based work camps. The successful candidate will be passionate about the beneficial outcomes of international volunteering to individual participants and the communities with which they serve. Applicants may be early-career professionals looking for the next development opportunity and we are keen to hear from individuals from all backgrounds.

The Interim Programmes Manager will have direct responsibility for our high-profile EU-funded programmes (Erasmus+ and, subject to successful funding application, the new European Solidary Corps). The post-holder will manage the Programme Officer and two long-term European Voluntary Service post-holders, with support from the Director and Administrative Assistant. The successful candidate will be similarly motivated by our mission and will also bring project management and reporting experience, and would suit someone happy to take on a short-term but highly rewarding role.

Application for both positions is by CV and covering letter (two pages max.) to be submitted by 9am Monday 25 March 2019 to the Director, Tara-Jane Sutcliffe: [email protected]. Any questions about the respective posts should be addressed to the Director by email in the first instance.

Interviews are anticipated to be held w/c 01 April 2019 at the UNA Exchange office in Cardiff.

It is hoped that the Interim Programmes Manager will take up post at the earliest opportunity in May to facilitate a hand-over period with the current post-holder.
