Volunteers will co-lead small groups of adults with special needs on short vacations to various locations. Volunteers will be responsible for safety, providing emotional and physical support, enhancing fun, budgeting, driving and activity planning 24 hours a day while on trips. Volunteers must be willing to assist with all daily living needs (brushing teeth, separating dirty clothes, showering etc). The work will be very challenging but also very rewarding and fun. Experience of this type of work is an asset but not required and training will be provided. Between trips some light office work or assistance is required.

Kyodo Gakusha is a co-operative community where people with various backgrounds such as thementally ill, people who are tired of city life, who want to learn farming or just want to live alongside nature. They have five communities in Tokyo, Nagano and Hokkaido and grow animals and vegetables in ecological, organic ways. Volunteers will encourage their practice and share their spirit. The volunteers will construct a building with the supervision of the specialists and also help to maintain a cattle farm (cutting trees & grasses). This international volunteer project has ran since 1998 together with Green Volunteers of Tokyo Port (GVTP). Reclaimed land in Tokyo is one of most valuable natural places in Tokyo Bay with some ponds and many plants, designed so various kinds of birds gather there. It became a park in 1989 and GVTP has been improving ecological conditions and guiding visitors to promote ecological awareness. NICE has been working with GVTP very successfully by supporting them with international volunteers. The volunteers will revive a reed plain where various types of birds gather by digging a waterway. This work needs to be done in a short time by many volunteers. It is a project that cannot be done only by the members of GVTP. The voluntary project is organized by the non-governmental organization 'Centre for all', which organizes free time activities and summer camps for children and youth with and without handicaps. The project takes place in the centre of the organization in the small town Nymburk.
Help to maintain the centre of the organization. The work will be outside (gardening) and in the building (cleaning after the summer season, preparing the house for the school year 2011/2012). Besides the volunteers will assist during activities with small and handicapped children (workshops, trips) and help at a public beneficial event and a celebration (workshops, preparations, decorations). SEEDS Volunteers will be working on few different projects, mainly collecting wild berries and gathering the ingredients as Icelanders used to cater themselves some decades ago when the country and this region in particular were very isolated and transport of “foreign” goods and products was almost non-existent.
Our local host and few groups of SEEDS volunteers have been counting, registering and following up the growth of the local flora. We will continue counting and registering information regarding the plants and trees that grow in the area.
Other tasks might include maintaining hiking trails and pathways in the area of Langibotn and putting up signs and descriptive information charts for the trails.

The volunteers in collaboration with local volunteers will be involved in the renovation of the greywater treatment systems to purify wastewater of the house laboratory Cerquosino. The work will be focused on the planting of bamboo canes, rebuilding of the fence that mark off the area, cleaning of the existing plants.

Volunteers will work to safeguard the built heritage on former pastures.It will consist of several stages : renovation of a stone cottage covered with vegetation, rebuilding of low walls, repairing an old gate. Volunteers will participate to different kinds of work : weed clearing, removing broken walls, traditional masonry (lime), carpentry and roofing, lime slab making, painting and small mending of the gate. The Segala home is a rural centre offering cultural activities to everyone, in particular, local farmers, elderly people, children from the neighbouring schools. This centre is located on a hill above the village of Saint-Martin-Laguepie, surrounded with fields and meadows, in a magnificent countryside landscape of hills and deep valleys. Since 1999, this project has been hosted by “Akame no Mori wo Mamoru kai”, a local environmental NGO. Being located near to both the big cities of Osaka and Nagoya, there were plans to dispose industrial garbage here. However, local people have stopped them by creating the “Woods Trust” movement. They formed this group in 1996 to collect donations to buy and protect land, to enjoy nature, to maintain forests, to create a pond for dragonflies, to host national copse meetings and other environmental activities. Just before the school season starts, international volunteers will work to renovate a school garden in Ozvatan. Volunteers will be involved in environmental arrangment and landscaping works in the garden.

The Vercors Natural Park is one of the first Natural Parks created in the Alps. There are 2500 km of hiking paths in this wonderful area. They are exposed to elements, such as climate change and hikers, which have caused erosion. Like in the previous years, the volunteers will work on the renovation of one of the damaged paths. The main work will be to clear the brushwood, lay out some paths, rebuild a wall and a bridge that crosses the Izarette brook. The volunteers will also restore a stone alley.

This project consists of the renovation of municipal heritage (some old wash-houses dispatched all along the countryside). The volunteers will be involved in masonry work: replacing stones, repairing stone walls and paving stones.

The small village Avricourt wants to preserve its little church and warmly welcomes the volunteers to help them do so. The volunteers will be involved in renovating the church (outside). The work will consist of extracting old joints from stone walls and changing some bricks. The volunteers will also organise and participate in activities with the young people of the village. At the end of the project there will be a concert in the church.

Volunteers will be working to restore a local pottery kiln. This will include fixing the roof and building new chimneys.

Celebrating International Year of Forests. Ikawa-Ako (meaning “you and me” in the local language) was founded in 1995 and has planted 300,000 mangrove trees on Negros island in partnership with the local government and local people. 75% of mangrove forests have disappeared in the Philippines due to human consumption. Therefore the project is aimed at preservation of the trees.
Volunteers will mainly plant mangrove trees with the local children (3 hours a day) and also organize some cultural exchange activities They will also participate in World Tanabata Action activites such as planting.

Volunteers will rebuild homes in the flood damaged Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans on a 5-day week of full work days 8am to 5pm. Unskilled volunteers will receive training from skilled staff and long term volunteers to help provide free labour to neighbourhood residents so they can return home after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. All aspects of home rebuilding will be addressed, from roofing to finish carpentry.

The group will help on the building of a small ecological construction. Also, participants will help with the organization of an associative meeting about ecological practice.

The KNHS (Dutch Royal Sport Federation), situated in Ermelo is one of the biggest sport federations of the Netherlands. 8 disciplines of the horse riding sport are connected to the KNHS. The volunteers will stay at the KNHS and they will renovate the materials which are used at competitions for example beams, they will also help with construction of the competitions and they will do some work in the garden.

Briatexte is an ancient fortified town whose medieval architecture is well-preserved, particularly the main square surrounded by archways. This little town in the Tarn province, among farmlands and woods is led by a dynamic and welcoming municipal team. The work will consist of restoring a pigeon house dating from the end of the 18th century and situated on the outskirts of the town. Volunteers will be supervised in the work by a passionate Canadian retired architect, a mason and a carpenter. The Erich Kaestner-Haus is run by the youth offices of the city of Gelsenkirchen. The youth centre has a large yard with a football pitch and an amphitheatre etc. Volunteers will be building a storage space for the equipment these games.
First the group must lay the cement foundation before beginning to erect the walls. Naturally a roof is needed which the volunteer team will be building accompanied by local experts.

The School was established in 1958 as a community institution to cater for the ever-increasing number of children seeking Primary School education in the region. The initiative was a combined effort of the local community in collaboration with the Anglican Church of Kenya.
The School aims at providing quality basic education to all children in the community to enable them to gain knowledge that is the foundation for their future.
The School management committee runs the affairs of the institution with the Headteacher, deputy headteacher, Chairman of the School management committee and Treasurer playing the critical role.
